Surgery
While there may be several conservative options discussed with you by your physician, sometimes surgery is in your best interest. Our physicians have over 35 years of combined surgical experience focused exclusively on the lower leg, ankle and foot. From total ankle replacements to hammertoe corrections, we have you covered! The physicians at the Center for Foot and Ankle Restoration are board certified orthopedic surgeons (M.D.’s) with fellowship training in the field of foot and surgery; they are not podiatrists (D.P.M.’s). While there are different types of providers that perform foot and ankle surgery, you can rest assured that our physicians have achieved the highest level of qualifications in their field.

Scheduling Information
Prior to surgery, our surgery scheduler will be your direct contact person during the pre-operative planning process. While our surgeons operate at multiple surgical facilities, operating room time at any given facility for a specific date may or may not be available. Surgery dates may be confirmed well in advance, but specific surgery times are subject to change until 1-2 days prior so that we can best accommodate the needs of all of our patients. With some insurance plans, a deposit to cover the cost of a deductible may be required by our office and/or the surgical facility.
Surgery Packets
Equipment
Proper post-operative care can be just as important to a successful outcome as the surgery itself. Our surgery scheduler will work with you before surgery to make sure that you have all of the equipment you need to begin the road to recovery.
If crutches will be required and have not already been obtained, they can be provided at the surgical facility after surgery. In this case, the surgical facility will bill them to your insurance carrier.
Wheelchairs can be prescribed by our office on request and may be picked up at a local Durable Medical Equipment store. Wheelchairs are usually covered by insurance carriers, but if you feel the need to obtain one on your own, make sure it has a “leg extender” to keep the operative leg elevated.
Rolling knee walkers (scooters) are a nice option for some patients, but may not be covered by your insurance carrier. If not, they can either be rented or purchased at your discretion and our surgery scheduler can put you in contact with the appropriate vendor.
